When taking screen shots for use in tutorials, it would be really helpful to include the mouse cursor in the picture, but I've found that most screenshot tools (including those that ship with Windows) hide the cursor from the screenshot.

IrfanView has an option to include the cursor while taking screenshots. Press C to configure options and the hotkey.It is free for private, educational, and non-commercial use.

I've been very happy with Greenshot - you can turn on/off if mouse is captured or not + it has nice capability of adding notes and lines/arrows diretcly on the image after taking the shot. Great if you're creating user manuals or similar stuff.It's also free and open source.

ShareX is a good free tool to capture screen with cursor

Snagit has the option includes the mouse cursor. Plus it includes a REALLY good editor for screenshots. If you are not a computer expert, it is the best tool.

There are Jing and free FastStone Capture where you could use an arrow to indicate the position. That is not quite the same but it does the job. You can also make annotations, highlights etc.

Second edit: I don't know why whs states you can add the arrow, because in Faststone it is just a regular feature you can choose to have the cursor included.

Thanks Sarah, I never knew that. Can always teach an old dog new tricks. I use Jing most of the time. It is easier because I have programmed it to F9 to start.

I have a variety of screenshot apps, mostly because they are small and each has it's own pre and as long as they don't all autostart together it's no problem.
But in fact I only like WinSnap. Not free, but I love that transparency :)

I like Faststone Capture for the Autosave function. Click and done. For scrolling text Ashampoo will work when FSC doesn't. Also use Screen Capture Google add on, and of course Windows snipping tool. I like my screenshots.
